"Granny" Andrews
In Loving Memory of Granny Beloved pet of the Andrews Family
Granny was taken from an abuse/neglect/hoader home with other dogs believed to be her offspring around December 2025. We started to foster her in January 2026 and a few days later the shelter vet decided her left eye was too far gone so it was removed during her planned spay surgery. She really did very well after that and it seemed to bring her relief. She developed more confidence when going on walks and running around the yard and playing with toys and other dogs. The shelter didn't have the resources for her health care and we wanted the best for her so we adopted her in March 2026 and had her other eye examined by a specialist who said it was good and placed her on some preventative drops. Unfortunately she was heartworm positive and even after treatment and finally testing negative she developed something called Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia and we were activitley fighting that for the last month and she was improving, We have had her in and out of vets and the er for several weeks and each time she pulled through. But then she got Pancreatitis and it caused her so much nausea and constant acid reflux and then bloody diarrhea and she stopped eating. Even with fluids and medication she still wouldn't eat. She passed Sunday September 13th 2026 with her Mommy and Daddy loving on her. We only wish we had more time with her because she finally got to live her best life. She deserved so much more time. She loved going on walks and was starting to jump up with excitement for them. She knew when it was that time and would demand her walk. She loved her big bed. It was her safe spot. We got it the first time we took her to the pet store and she was so nervous but when we got out that bed, she got right in it and instantly fell in love. She would always run back to it like it was base for her. She didnt care for the beach and she hated the car, only loved getting treats in the car especially ice cream. Her favorite part of the car was getting out of it. She loved the park and all the sniffs and playing with other dogs. She loved dogs and people and saw them with her nose and always greeted people with nose boops. She was always so gentle. She loved to rub against the sides of the bed and we called it "bed sharking". She would let you know what she wanted with her "Granny Grunts". She loved to do "pibble nibbles" with Mommy but Daddy was her person and she was his soul dog. She would plop down and rub her head against him while he rubbed her belly on the floor next to the bed. Granny loved to dig and always found away to beat whatever blockade Daddy tried to put up. She loved to roll in the sandiest dirt but didnt love the bath she would get after. She loved to run around the yard with Mommy and Daddy. She seldom if ever barked but had the funniest howl if she heard sirens. She was finally even getting up on the bed and sleeping in it with Daddy. She was the biggest bravest dog. Granny was going to be a big sister and we plan to let them know all about their sister Granny. Please foster/adopt a senior dog if you can and give them the best final days they deserve. Even the ones who might not be perfect. She was the absolute sweetest and was perfect to us. Mommy and Daddy love you and miss you Granny.
