Howard was the most loyal, patient and appreciative dog I've ever known. He cherished every morsel of food, his 5 beds, toys and loved his kitty friends and his leisurely walks. He would share his food with the kitties. Even a coveted cheeseburger with no fuss. Everyone who knew him and met him fell in love with his sweet disposition and his smile. He always extended a paw and connected with people with his soulful eyes. I miss him terribly. I miss his smell, caring for him on a daily and towards the end an hourly basis. There is such a void and pain that is so acute it takes my breath away when my mind wanders. Is he alone, afraid, sad like I am? Waking up and coming home are the hardest. I really hope we will be reunited one day and he is still roaming the universe free from his broken body. I love you Howard. Thank you for teaching me how to love and commit. I will honor your memory and take another senior dog off the euthanasia list as soon as I get this grief I feel under control. Until we meet again my loyal, beautiful friend.
