"Loki" Doucette

In Loving Memory of Loki
Beloved pet of the Doucette family

  1. Loki was my buddy. He was more than just a furry companion, he was a part of my family. Between the births of my son and my daughter, we experienced a miscarriage. Loki was brought into our home to fill the void that we both had in our hearts, and he excelled in that role. He became a sleeping companion, a protector, and a silent companion that I could just sit and talk to whenever I was feeling down. I pretended to be annoyed by his constant kisses, but in truth his acts of unconditional love are what I am going to miss the most. I am going to miss the look in his eyes, because at times I swear he could understand me. I am going to miss the "thump-thump" of his tail against the stove whenever I popped open a cheese wrapper. I am going to miss how he would hug against me whenever I held him. I'm going to miss his silly way he would prance through the grass in my backyard. My children miss him terribly. Though he was only 5 1/2 years old, we have a lifetime of memories to cherish and hold on to.

I do have to thank the staff at the Quail Hollow Animal Hospital for their care and concern which is beyond measure. I also want to thank the folks at Faithful Friends. Though we've never met, I hold a ton of gratitude in my heart for you all. Loki's urn is beautiful, and I will be honest in saying that I lost it when I saw his paw print yesterday. I can just tell the respect and the reverence with which he was cared for, and that goes a long way in my book.

As for my Loki, he's home now. He is at rest. He is free of his pain. His urn sits with the urn of one of his best buddies, my beloved Luna Pea, who passed away nearly two years ago. I'm sure they've reunited across the rainbow bridge, and I know in my heart that one day they will be there to greet me as well.

Thanks again to everyone at Faithful Friends, and Quail Hollow Animal Hospital.
